Bhringraj aka the false daily is a wonderful cooling healing herb. It is usually a go to herb for Ayurvedic hair care.

Aids in improvement in sleep quality
Reduces dandruff
Adds sheen
Hair loss reduction
Encourages hair growth
Increases manageability
Slightly enriches dark colored hair
Evens complexion without lightening of the skin
Aids in reduction of skin inflammation

Here are a few of my favorite ways to use this herb:

Bhringraj Oil Treatment - Emilia O.

  • 1/2 cup of bhringraj or 1/4 cup of bhringraj powder
  • 1 cup of coconut oil
    • Note: Can add any other herbs of choice
  • Warm the coconut oil in a double boiler.
  • Add add the bhringraj and mix until full incorporated.
  • Storage options:
  1. Allow to cool and scoop into a jar
  2. Pour the oil mix into a bottle of choice.
    • Note: Leave it open to cool so moisture doesn't collect. Remember: Moisture + Oil = Mold (unless a preservative is used)
    • Apply to dry unwashed hair.
    • Massage the scalp for 1-2 minutes.
    • Leave in for approx 20-30 mins.
    • Rinse with warm water.
    • Cleanse the hair as normal.
    • Deep condition.

    Bhringraj Cleansing Solution- Emilia O.

    • 2 tablespoons bhringraj
    • 1 tablespoon shikakai/ aritha powder
    • 1 teaspoon of neem powder (This is a scalp treatment giant! Smells horrendous but works very well.)
    • 1 tablespoon Kalpi tone
    • 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice
    • 1/2 cup of water
    • 3-4 drops of an essential oil of choice (peppermint is good to cover the scent of the neem a bit)
    • Mix all ingredients, except the aloe juice and essential oil, together. Cover and let sit overnight.
    • In the morning add the aloe juice and stir until it is a thin solution. Add more water if needed.
    • Pour into a dye applicator bottle.
      • Note: Be sure to only make enough for a single time use. Without a preservative it has no shelf life.
    • Add a 2-4 drops of your essential oil (This is very concentrated and must be diluted. Never used undiluted).
    • Apply to scalp and hair.
    • Massage for a minute or so.
    • Leave in for approx 20-30 mins.
    • Rinse with cold water.
    • Cleanse the hair as normal.
    • Deep condition.
Cleanses the hair and scalp very well and doesn't leave the hair feeling dried out due to the conditioning ingredients being incorporated with the natural cleansers.

The most common ways to utilize this herb is in hair and skin care preparations such as oils, rinses and creams.
