Yucca root is by far one of the simplest ingredients to use for a quickly made diy shampoo.

It is very high in saponins. Saponins are what creates the foaminess that you see when using regular shampoos. The difference between this cleanser and general commercial shampoos is that it does not strip the hair. It is a very gentle cleanser.

Yucca Root Cleanser

  • 1 tablespoon of yucca root powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin
  • 1 tablespoon of lemongrass
  • 1 cup of distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon of peppermint

  • Steep the lemongrass and peppermint in a cup of hot distilled water. Allow to cool.
  • Strain the infused water and discard the herbs.
  • Add the yucca powder, vegetable glycerin and infused water to a blender.
  • Blend until it becomes frothy.
  • Pour solution into a dye applicator bottle.

  • Apply the shampoo to the scalp first. The dye applicator bottle makes it easy to do so.
  • Massage the scalp very well.
  • Rinse and smooth the hair.
  • Follow up with a rinse out or deep conditioner.
  • Do the final rinse with cool or cold water to smooth the cuticles of the hair.

The ingredients used are great for fighting dandruff, soothing the scalp, moisturizer, providing the hair with shine and stimulating the follicles.
Hair is left feeling nice and smooth after using this cleansing solution.

A treat for the hair from root to tip.
