Geranium is an essential oil with a femininely sweet yet light rose + mint scent. It pairs well with other floral, mint, and natural woodsy essential oils. It is a great oil to use in body oils, perfumes as well as in hair and skin care products.
For the hair Geranium is great for balancing the scalp. You can add a few drops to your hair products (such as conditioner/shampoo), shake well use as normal.
The skin isn't left out by this essential oil at all. It is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and promotes clear balanced youthful skin.

Here are a few of my DIY recipes to try out.

Geranium Hair Mask

This mask will leave the hair feeling soft, silky and the curls clumping. Winner!

  • 1 tablespoon of Honey/ 1 teaspoon of Glycerin
  • 5 drops of Geranium Essential Oil
  • 1 jar of Banana Baby Food
  • 1 teaspoon of Nourishing Scalp Nectar
  • 1 tablespoon of Raw Aloe Vera Gel

*Tip: Do not use regular bananas. It will leave bits in your hair that are beyond miserable to remove. Baby food is the best option.

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 spatula or spoon
  • 1 dye applicator bottle (optional)

  • Blend all ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Apply the mask to the hair.
  • Leave on for 30 minutes.
  • Massage the scalp and rinse well.
  • Moisturize, seal and style as normal.

*Tip: If the application process is messy pour the mask into a dye applicator bottle for easier use.

Geranium Hot Oil Treatment

Hot oil treatments are wonderful for giving the hair life. This one is simple and no exception.

  • 2 tablespoons of Budding Butter Treat
  • 1 tablespoon of Daily Dew
  • 5 drops of Geranium Essential Oil

* I love to use heavily infused oils so I added the items above. Add any carrier oils or butters of your choice.

  • Add the ingredients, except for the essential oil, to a dye applicator bottle.
  • Gently warm in a hot water bath until the butter has melted fully.
  • Add the geranium essential oil, shake well. Apply the mixture to the hair and scalp. Be sure it is not too hot. Only apply at a safe temperature.
  • Massage the scalp.
  • Cover the hair with a disposable shower cap and hair turban for approx. 20-30 minutes.
  • Lastly rinse the hair well.

*If this was used as a pre-poo continue with your wash day routine (cleanse and deep condition) as normal.

Feel free to customize the DIY recipes.
