Peeling face masks are great editions to our skincare regimens. This mask gently removes the loose cells from the top layer of our skin, cleans out the pores and helps to deter acne. You don't have to resort to expensive treatments all the time. This is my quick yet effective diy recipe for a peel away face mask. Use leaves the skin looking and feeling softened + rejuvenated.

 Peel Away Facial Mask

A microwave safe bowl

Chopstick/ Skewer

A fork

1 tablespoon of mint (fresh or dried)

1 pack of plain gelatin

1 cup of milk (soy or coconut) *Will only use 3 tablespoons in this recipe

1 very soft bristle face brush (optional)

  • Wash your face with your cleanser of choice. Dry the skin well.
  • Warm the milk with the mint leaves in a double boiler.
  • Pour the gelatin into a bowl.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of the warmed milk to the gelatin. Blend well until it becomes a paste.
  • Heat the mixture in a microwave at 5 second increments until it is very melted. Shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 runs to get the gelatin to melt.
  • Stir it well.
  • Apply the mask quickly with your fingers or a brush.

Caution: Be sure it is cool to the touch before applying to your face. Avoid applying it near the eyes as well.

  • Allow it to remain on your face until it is 100% dry. Then peel the mask off gently.
  • Rinse the face well with cool water. Pat dry until the skin is slightly damp. Then moisturize.
*Tip: Cool water minimizes the size of the pores.
* Tip 2: You can freeze the remaining milk in ice cube trays. Store in freezer bags. Take out 1 cube to use for this peeling face mask recipe as needed.
