    Solutions to Common Issues

Dryness (due to sebum being unable to travel down the strands of the hair from the scalp)

      Solutions:

      • Using a creamy leave in conditioner + the LOC/LCO method is best for preventing dry hair. Water is the #1 source of moisture. A good leave in conditioner will always be water based. My fav is Florets & Creme.
      • Deep conditioning regularly is your bestie. Doing this on a weekly/ biweekly basis is of the utmost importance if you are having problems with maintaining moisture.

Can lack natural sheen. This is due to the sebum not being able to travel down the shaft of the hair from the scalp.

          Solutions:
          • Apply a light to middle weight carrier oil to the hair.
          • When washing the hair do a cool/ cold water final rinse. This smooths the cuticle allowing light to reflect off of it easier and shows the sheen.

Does not reflect light very well. If not black (color). This is usually because black hair reflects light significantly better than any other hair color.

            Solutions:

            • When washing the hair do a cool/ cold water final rinse. This smooths the cuticle allowing light to reflect off of it easier and shows the sheen.
            • Hair Colors (Natural or Dyed) in the Browns, Blondes and Reds family: sheen/ shine is difficult to maintain. If you are in this category a cassia gloss or clear rinse is definitely worth looking into. More info on these treatments can be found here.
