Aloe is a wonderful plant. It is one of the most useful plants you can find. It is well known for being soothing and feeling cool when applied to the skin. Commonly used for body and hair care. If you do not like to use shampoo and use primarily water-soluble products...aloe vera gel is an excellent mild cleansing option. Also if you love to co-wash midweek and are transitioning to natural hair this is a good way to give your hair a fresh start.

    Aloe Gel Hair Cleanser

    Ingredients:

    • 1/4-1/2 a cup of fresh aloe vera
    • 1/4 cup of distilled water (can be infused with tea)
    • 2 tablespoons of raw honey
    • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon of flourishing scalp nectar oil*

*Can substitute with a carrier oil of choice. Enhance with essential oils to make it more effective. Can use rosemary, sage or any you prefer.

    Steps:
    • Filet the exterior of the aloe leaf from the gel. Then cut the gel into chunks.
    • Add everything to a blender or food processor.
    • Blend until it becomes super smooth.
    • Strain into an container. This will remove any chunks that may be in the mix. You can repeat the 1st few steps until all of the aloe is able to pass through the strainer.
    • Pour the solution into a dye applicator bottle.

This cleanser will not lather. It has tons of slip so detangling with it is a breeze. Only make enough for single use. It does not have any preservatives so it will not last in the refrigerator.

    Use:
    • Apply the shampoo to the scalp first. This will allow for easy application directly to the scalp for loc'd, braided or loose hair.
    • Massage the scalp.
    • Rinse out very well.
    • Follow up with a conditioner.
    • Do the final rinse with cool or cold water to smooth the cuticles of the hair.

The ingredients used are excellent for soothing scalp irritations, removing light build up and scalp stimulation.
Hair is left feeling nice and smooth after using this cleansing solution. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

    Enjoy!
